As posted yesterday before I can finish the last bit of pebble backfilling there’s some work to do inside the chook run – in that corner.
Today we need to do some work in the chook run. I have also changed my mind about that post – overkill.

Workshop drainage – Part 10
Weather cleared nicely; was able to go out and do some more like back fill the drain with soil and back fill the top end of the PVC pipe with gravel.
I used that same thin piece of plywood as a dirt guard when filling and tamping down the soil.

Connecting PVC pipe to corner grate.
Mixing up some mortar in a spare chook tray bed which is actually a kitty litter tray screwed to a chipboard base. I say ‘spare’ because we only have one chook left (Speckles) all the others are gone.

Prepping to put in the 90mm PVC storm water pipe and connect to the corner grate.
About to spray paint the top of the PVC pipe Brunswick Green so it blends in with the backfill pebbles.

Been busy doing other things but now back to this project.
Back from Bunnings with more bags of concrete mix and backfill pebbles.
Workshop drainage – Part 6
Lovely morning so let’s get out there and mix come concrete.
Rather that fill the whole trench with concrete I’m just doing pads under the joints.
The middle section.
The right or chook run side where it will connect to 90mm PVC via a corner grate.
I’ll backfill the slab side with a sand mortar mix brushed in with a paint brush.
Corner lines up nicely with the PVC pipe which will be spray painted black and back filled with gravel.

Workshop drainage – Part 5
After three days of inclement weather and not being able to pick up tools it’s good to come out of hibernation.
More kneeling… need to cut out the end of that angled timber so the drain corner can line up with the PVC pipe.
What can I use to cut that out?

Back home from Bunning with some drainage stuff, 4 x EverHard Compact 1M and 1 x Corner.
More digging… Every time the ALDI Kids Garden tools come around I buy a full set – so handy!
With two in there let’s see how the corner lines up and that’s looking good, just need to cut off the end of the left timber edging.
Back soon but unlikely it will be tomorrow as the weather forecast looks gloomy :-(
Workshop drainage – Part 3
I need to work out how to connect 90mm PVC to the corner grate.
The regular drain is 100mm deep and has provision to directly connect 90mm PVC. I am using the cheaper compact drain that is 80mm deep so I have to do my own thing to connect to 90mm PVC.

Took me over a hour to remove that star pickett, no room for the crowbar so had to use that garden trowel digging on only one side – phew.
Lucky that I have this one and only 4.3M 90mm PVC pipe leftover from a previous job.
