Pocket Hole Joinery

Decided to make a pocket hole jig.

A pocket hole is simply a hole drilled at an angle that forms a “pocket” for the screw to sit into. You can usually find examples of pocket hole joinery around the house, turn a timber chair upside down or look under a table. After the pocket hole is drilled, a specially designed fastener is used to assemble the joints.

Winnebago – counter top rail

After a night of thunder and lighting plus a domestic disturbance across the (what was used to be a quiet) road that required police attendance it’s turned out to be a nice morning so it’s off to the workshop to do a wood job for family friends and their motorhome.

Disc Sander damage

To lazy to setup a small stepladder to get something down from the mezzanine floor of the garage workshop I stood on the edge of the table that has my 9″ band saw and homemade disc sander on it, then stepped onto the top of the sander itself…and caved in the top!

Above: This is the damaged sander top, it’s sitting on a new one that I have already cut and fitted to the disc sander.

Above: The top is 30 cm deep and to cut a new piece I automatically went to setup the table saw but wait…I now have a sliding mitre saw with 30cm cutting capacity – use that!
