Testing the plate base stand that I made yesterday to stop them:
* Scratching out the treats
* Standing on and tipping the plate
Generally it worked well although treats ended up under the scratch ring so I need to add some sort of ring guard – lol.
Chook updates-
Ruby & Rosie finally on the corner perch in the run.
Temp updates-
Sensor in the run – 5.8°
Coop temp – 11.2°
Wing to wing on a cold night – is good.
First time they have hunkered down together-
Wondering why… it was bloody cold last night and the coop heater has been turned off since Speckles left us (RIP).
Ok… I reset the temp from 14° down to 10°. If the temp drops below that between 5.30pm – 7.30am the coop heater will turn on – see how we go with that.

Decided to make a base to keep the plate off the ground.
Going to bed-
The girls have got it figured out and this evening passed the last test. Up to now I’ve been leaving the door open for them to find their way in but today about 4.45pm I closed the door – all good – one less trip out there. Check out the coop and chook run temps – last photos.
