CANON A3 printer setup

CANON PIXMA iX6860 A3+ Home Office Printer-
Unboxed and setup last night downstairs in my study. The CD install is very straightforward, opted for LAN connection and at one point prompted to press one of the two buttons and count 11 flashes on the other and release – LAN setup complete.
First A3 print – this morning on the balcony AIO PC created a A3 template of my new ‘limited edition’ bat in MS Word and sent it off to the study A3 printer. Used Holly’s IP camera to monitor the printing progress.

Purchased this in June 2009, Officeworks were having a clearance sale and this was sitting under a table, no price so I asked someone and the response was $99 dollars – SOLD. I have been very happy with this network ready printer and the prints from ALDI photo look pretty good using $4.00 inks from the market.

We need a new printer

Shopping around for a new printer!

The Brother MFC served us well until the black print head stuffed up :-(
Looks like Canon is the way to go this time…MX or MP series ???
These days I print mainly photo stuff, 6×4 and some A4 so the MP640 looks good:
 

 

However, we still have a need to copy, scan and ocassionally FAX.
The MX870 uses the same print setup as the MP640 (1 picolitre droplets):
 
 

 
Photos should come the same and I don’t need CD/DVD printing.
