The bird bath is working well.
It’s taken a while to come to the conclusion that no matter what the weather conditions the system will run out of water! For the water reservoir I am using (Ex Dusty horse feed tub) that works out to about seven days.
So yeah… I am on a weekly routine to tip out, flush and refill the tub with tap water. I also clean the bath itself with a pan brush.
The birdbath has run dry protection, there is a float level switch at the bottom of the tub that will shut down the system with low water level. The birdbath uses a small 12V water pump so it can be located anywhere and run off a car battery or solar panel and controlled by a 12V programable timer set to turn on the pump for 5mins every hour through the day.
