Camry windscreen washers blocked – still problems

The black gunk or Biofilm is still giving me problems. The proper fix is to remove the washer fluid reservoir and give it a thorough cleaning but…that involves jacking up and removing the drivers side wheel then removing the mudguard cover to gain access to remove the reservoir!

Decided to try a sort of cyclic flush out to avoid the above.

In the last post related to this I mentioned that the passenger nozzle jets clogged up again – just when I thought I was done. Removed the nozzle from the bonnet as shown to check and yeah…clogged with black gunk again.

Camry windscreen washers blocked – 2

The actual jets are clear, turns out both nozzles are internally blocked ??? and I have worked out the likely chain of events. Car was loaned to a family member and during the loan period the washer reservoir ran out of water. Water was added and I presume the washers still would not work cos when I went to use them the other day – nothing.

Ordered a set which promptly arrived.

Replacement battery for Betty

Betty is our Garmin nuvi 2597LMT GPS that we bought off our older daughter a few years ago. The battery has been showing signs of dying so got a replacement one off eBay for less than $15 dollars. Battery arrived weeks ago and been sitting on the balcony computer desk and when I finally got around to doing the job could not find the bloody thing.

Tiny Torx screws !…do I have bits that small? Took a while to remember that we bought something like a precision bit set from a walkway trader at Chinatown (The Glen) – found it in the workshop.

Car DVR – Mercedes

05Installed one of the $25 units we bought at the market last week into my sister’s Mercedes Kompressor. This is the first time the power lead has been long enough to reach from the camera all the way around behind trim and along under the drivers dash to the cigarette lighter so thankfully no need for any USB extension cable.

Started at the centre console where there is cigarette lighter socket.

Then under the dash where the cable is hidden behind the kick cover panel.

Across to the right side.

Then up and around the end of the dash.

Towards the windscreen the up the pillar.

Home turn is in sight Smile

Across the top of the windscreen pushing the cable in behind the trim with a old school ruler.

The cable length is perfect to just plug into camera.

Thankfully no operator knowledge is required, camera turns on with ignition ACC and turns off about 30 seconds after key is removed.

HD CAR DVR–where I find English language?

After hours of stuffing around (on & off) and literally hundreds of button presses’ I’ve finally managed to get ENGLISH menu’s !!! The frigging default is bloody Chinese so I had to blindly go through menu options (like trying to guess today’s Enigma code) until finally up came a language selection, scrolled through to ENGLISH and pressed OK – Hallelujah.
