Chooks coop heater – some modifications.

Due to some very cold nights I’ve been swapping between the regular 75W ceramic heat emitter and the larger 250W one. Currently that’s a PIA cos I have to take out 2 screws to remove the top cover – time to fix that.

To change the heat emitter (lamp) I have to remove two screws and take off the top.

Made a wooden frame to match the square top cover.

Now to make the lamp mounting base.

Looking good now we need a lamp clamp.

Found a pipe clamp the right size and screwed to a bit of timber.

Screwed down to the base board.

Fix the base to the frame with a couple of brackets. That’s the 75 watt emitter, going to change now to the 250W one for tonight.

Coming up to bedtime for the chooks so I’ll take it out now to the coop. Tomorrow I’ll staple mesh around the sides to keep out feathers and hay. One side will be hinged for easy lamp changes
