Al’s Workshop – USB RGB LED strip lights (part 2)

As posted 3 x USB RGB LED strips arrived yesterday so keen to have a play with one of them this morning.

Setting up to do some testing.

2On the left is the USB light kit with of course a USB A male plug on the end of the cable. When doing a bat lighting install that lead will be cut to length and directly wired to a pair of AA battery boxes. More on that later.

For this test that USB cable is plugged into the USB digital tester and that in turn plugged into the USB A female to clip leads – connected to power supply.

These USB 5V lights also come as a battery version with 3 x AA battery box. I’m going to run these USB lights off 2 x AA battery boxes so 4 x 1.2 = 4.8V – I like that.

We will run the tests at the low end using 3.6V. The new and larger Batman (Limited Edition) version will use a PowerBank.

Power supply set for 3.6V the tester is reading 3.57 – that’s OK.
