14” Bandsaw – Lower blade guides 2 update

Just a update this morning before we go to market and shops.

1
As with the upper guides using a piece of laminate flooring to mount the bearings.
I don’t have the right length 8mm bolts so they are just sitting there with no nuts at the back.

2
With regard to the thrust bearings that mount below we have a dilemma with as yet not even any options. With very limited room…can’t see a way yet how to fit them in there ???

Update: 11.23 AM – Just remembered about UHMW Polyurethane, normally used to make workshop jigs. it’s quite popular today for bandsaw blade guides

The letters stand for “ultra-high molecular weight”, a type of plastic that is dense, tough, rigid, impervious to moisture and, most important, has a very low coefficient of friction. Jig bases made from it slide easily on machine tables.

Yes…I’ll go buy some from Carbatec for the lower blade guides!

UPDATE: 5.29 PM – Worked out a way to fit in the blade guide bearings but I will get some UHMW to use in place of the thrust bearings.
