Time to fit tyres to the wheels Smile

In the tub of ‘parts’ for this build we have two 12” bicycle inner tubes from Kmart – $5 each.

Flashback Jul 2017 – Tyres for the 8” bandsaw:
Had to think about this for a while, how do I fit a tyre onto a 8” wheel?
Came up with the idea of using a car tyre inner tube so went to see my local tyre guy who gave me a truck tyre from the recycle bin – will it fit?

How wide…guessing the width cut out a cross section from the tyre – perfect fit.

This is about where I am with the current build, blade fitted and saw running.

Back to the present.

Basically we need to cut around the inside of each tyre.

Be careful and take minimum when cutting out the valve.

Two done.

Wash of the power and dry in the afternoon sun.

This part I don’t like, a lot of effort required to get them onto the wheels. By the time the second wheel is done my 70 year hands need a rest. Thankfully still pretty strong and able.

Looks like a bandsaw wheel now Smile

After a rest (if you need one) go back and while slowly turn each wheel make sure the tiny centre ridge is centered all the way around, with equal stretch tension on both sides.

Getting to that interesting stage of fitting the blade and running the saw.
