14" Bandsaw – sneak preview of next stage

Sneak preview of next stage of the build process.

Before I go any further I need to go find in the downstairs rumpus room (store room) the low sturdy table that I used to stand the first bandsaw on, that one turned out to be 6’8″ high – and I am 6’2″.

Doing some layout planning for the upper wheel support arm to find where it needs to be located on the vertical post. I have a length of timber clamped the lower wheel to measure the wheel centres – see next photo.

Previously I setup the 14” wheels on a board with some tension on the blade to measure the wheel bearing centres. Important bit of information so write that down – 71mm

The blade is from Carbatec in Springvale and not far from me – cost $22.
Product Code: BBL-2553-13-4 (L = 2553mm, W = 13mm, TPI = 4)

With some reference marks on the vertical support now doing some layout planning with lots of clamps. The wheel centres are 71mm so I reduced that here by a few millimetres  here so the blade will go on and come off easily. This is basically the minimum or bottom end of the tension block range.

The thing may already to heavy for me to lift.
