8” Bandsaw – Wheel bearings

As mentioned worked out how to mount the skateboard bearings (with those bloody flanges) onto the Melamine bandsaw wheels. We can now get started actually building the thing.

Made some laminate flooring washers that have been recessed to house the outside of the bearings.

This is a mock-up, using a lock nut rather then a plain nut. The wheel will of course be  mounted on threaded rod shafts.

After this we can use the wheels to start laying out the main frame.

The blade I bought for the saw is 1400mm x 6.35mm x 14 TPI.  I wrapped a IKEA tape measure around the blade and taped it off at the 1400mm mark. Here I am using the ‘tape blade’ to assist with laying out the main frame, in particular the wheel centers.

I need to cut four panels that will be sandwiched together to form the main frame.

Ripping them up on the table saw.

Four stacked panels with the wheels on top, helps to form a mental picture.
