Scroll saw project – update 10

With the garden work done (last four days) and ready for council collection next week it’s good to get back in the workshop to continue the scroll saw build- yay

Decided to switch from plain to the pinned type of blade. The plain type (no pin) just keeps coming loose no matter how tight I do up the clamp screws. Things are more secure now and I can even wind up the saw speed a bit more.

Version 2.0 of the blade holder is a simple setup compared to Version 1.0. The metal arm that holds the blade is just a straight bracket (from ALDI bracket set) with the end turned over in a vice and a hacksaw cut slot for the pinned blade to slide into – and pivot.

One big advantage now is a quick blade release to do inside cuts !!! More to come on this..

I’ll continue with more refinements to the top blade holder tomorrow. To finish this session I cut a hole in the left side to access the pendulum selector lever.

Clean up tomorrow.
