Meanwhile in the workshop we are reviving a couple of Dell towers. One of them is a beautiful (but aging) Precision 670 workstation with dual Xeon processors but only 1GB RAM. Browsing eBay I can get typically get 4GB of ECC for around $40 bucks – might do that.
