Bench drill press

Purchased a used Ryobi MODEL BD513 Drill Press for $40.

It’s been lying around unused and needs a clean-up. When I first turned it on it was quite noisy with most of the noise coming from the top cover so fixed that with some pieces of purlin tape. Took the belt off to check the motor and it’s good – runs well. The belt is like new but runs a bit wonky because…I guess… it’s been sitting in the same position on the pulleys for years! With use that is starting to come good. Also cleaned and adjusted the quill and spindle assembly and happy with the overall results.

Currently cleaning up and renovating the workshop so for now came up with a temporary drill press stand. The base is the centre section of a old computer table with a kitchen drawer turned upside down sitting on top. On top sits a piece of chipboard which is screwed into the bottom of the drawer sides.

For clamping purposes pine blocks are coach bolted into the sides of the drawer.
